“Interning at Ruby Media Group has been a completely unique experience. From my first day, I’ve worked directly with CEO Kris Ruby on all of my projects. Kris is one of the most driven and goal oriented people I’ve ever worked with. She is constantly expanding her company and getting involved in new ventures, giving me a wide array of projects to work on. Kris has given me great responsibility throughout the internship, including creating complete ad campaigns, writing for the company blog and participating in social media marketing initiatives. Overall the internship has been extremely hands-on and I would recommend it to anyone looking to get their feet wet in a great social media & public relations company. I highly recommend it!” -Caitlin McGowen, Boston University College of Communications Class of 2010, Advertising Major

“Interning at RMG gave me the opportunity to do way more than make copies and get coffee. I have many friends who had PR interning experiences where they spent most of their time sitting at their desks with nothing to do. Kristen trusted me to help write and edit the social media strategy documents for important engagements and manage the execution of those strategies among many other things. I also had the opportunity to hone my traditional PR skills through putting together pitches, developing media lists, and writing press releases. I never had a day without work, and Kris always made sure that what I was doing was relevant and built my experience. I have learned so much about social media and how it can be used for businesses, and that knowledge is invaluable.” Laura Renaud, Syracuse University

“I’m taking everything I learned from this internship with me back to school and to future internships. I think this internship changed the way I view the world and the media. I am more cautious and observant of my surroundings, as well as what I put out on the Internet”. Gabrielle Dioguardi, University of Rhode Island

“Working for Ruby Media Group has been by far the most informative and hands-on internship I have been apart of thus far. Working in a small agency gave me the opportunity to get real world experience and understand what it takes to successfully social media market a range of different clients. Being able to work with Kristen Ruby was amazing; she is so accomplished at such a young age, she is a great example for any soon-to-be recent graduate.  During the internship I learned a lot about myself. Some of the most important things I learned included time management and creating results. I will always remember one thing Kristen told me, and it was about creating results. I now remember to ask myself “what tangible results did I create during this time period? What have I accomplished?” Kyra Troiano, Boston University

“Working at Ruby Media Group for my summer internship was an extremely rewarding program that has enabled me to gain a better understanding of the field of communications. Kris is an intelligent and dedicated worker, who has taught me how to compose quality pitches to journalists, how to create social media strategies, and how to write at an advanced level. I know that the lessons I have learned at RMG will help me each day through my communication and writing courses. I have not only gained a significant amount of writing experience, but I also attended events around Westchester community socializing with top bloggers, young and influential individuals, entrepreneurs, and magazine editors. This experience reached far beyond my expectations and provided me with the foundation for personal growth- in my life and in my education. Kris brought her saying “B.Y.O.B: Be Your Own Brand” to life and has inspired me to reach for my dreams and persevere in my own work. Ruby Media Group was a challenging and unique internship that allowed me to work “hands-on” on various projects of my interest and explore the online networking community- I would love to be back in the future!” Abbe Kramer, University of Miami

“I had no idea what the PR world was like until I got the “hands on” experience that RMG offered me this summer. From Day 1, I was thrown into a writing style I had not become accustomed to, composing content and formatting documents. It took a few weeks, and about 4 or 5 lengthy documents, but I adapted my writing style, learned how to be creative with the projects given to me, became acquainted with all the social media terms, and learned how to interpret and progress with each set of Kristen’s instructions. One of the most significant things I’ve taken away from this internship is that at the end of the day, you have to find your own place in this field and know your strengths and weaknesses to flourish. As a virtual intern, my main concern this summer was getting an internship that allowed me to get some hands on experience, learn about the field, figure out what I liked and didn’t like.  The virtual internship with RMG seemed like a great option and it has demanded a great deal of self motivation, drive, knowledge, and time management on my part that I’m very glad I was able to experience.” Maya Seshadri, Boston University

“Interning at Ruby Media Group has been a really exciting and educational experience. From the very first day at RMG, I was involved in researching, writing, and editing.  Working directly with Kris Ruby, the CEO has been great. She is an inspiration to driven young women who want to establish themselves in the Public Relations industry. Not only do you end up feeling more connected to the company, but Kris is also a great mentor and really works with you to hone your abilities. Even after the first month, I could see exactly where I had improved. My time at RMG has really allowed me to grow as writer and has broadened my understanding of the Public Relations industry at large. I have been able to apply everything I have learned directly to my studies. This internship has given me the real “hands on” experience in Public Relations I was looking for, and it is a very unique opportunity.” -Harper Schmidt, Boston University

“Interning at RMG was one of the best experiences in my career. At RMG, I gained great insight into the PR industry and was given so many great opportunities. While my peers ran errands for their bosses and sent emails, I learned how to strategically craft pitches, effectively utilize social media, and comprehensively develop marketing communication strategies for businesses. Kris Ruby, the CEO of RMG, works with each one of her interns directly. She always encouraged me to offer my opinion on projects and was eager to hear my ideas for strategies. She is a dedicated PR professional who is committed to taking the time out to teach those interested in the PR industry. I consider myself extremely lucky to have had my first internship experience at RMG!” – Jennifer Kadenkavil, Boston University, College of Communications, Public Relations Major
